Albatross Hostel

The shared kitchen is roomy and has what you need for cooking and storage, and the lounge is a really comfortable place to hang out. The other guests were considerate and an eclectic bunch, just what you want in a hostel when you're hoping to meet people. I'm a bit of an oddball myself, but still felt right at home. This was my second visit, and I had a good reason to come back. It's the best hostel in Newcastle, after all. The staff are lovely, the amenities are nice, the rooms are clean, and the beds are comfy. Great value too. If I had to pick a complaint, it would be the toilet paper, which is easy to solve by bringing my own. Nothing to make a fuss about. The hostel is right in the city centre, and everything you'd want is within a five-minute walk. Really, I'm not exaggerating! I had a wonderful time and felt well looked after. I'll recommend it and come back as soon as I can.

The rooms were clean, with a good-sized locker for everyone and several toilets and showers on each floor. The staff were easily the highlight, really friendly and helpful, and I couldn't fault them. The shared kitchen and communal space were useful too. I was here for the Great North Run, so it was busy. It's right in central Newcastle, about a five-minute walk from the station. There was no internet in the rooms, but that didn't bother me much.

The free bag storage for 24 hours was a real help. The room was good, and the facilities are great for the price. Reecs at reception and her assistant were especially friendly and helpful. A great find in Newcastle, I'd recommend it to visitors.

The kitchen was often packed, with some people living there, so it wasn't somewhere I could relax. The internet was poor and only worked in the kitchen. Still, it's a nice place in a central location.
