DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newcastle International Airport

Lydia, the waitress and bartender, was lovely to chat with and made our stay more pleasant. Jack was friendly and attentive too, and made great cocktails. Dinner was nice, with plenty of choice on the menu. My main disappointment was breakfast. The food was cold, there was yogurt but no simple option like granola to go with it, and, like at most Hiltons these days, there wasn’t a latte or coffee machine for guests to use. I’m not a big breakfast eater, so it didn’t bother me too much. The location was hard to beat for our weekend concert trip from Belfast. From stepping off the plane to checking in took eight minutes. The lobby and bar are modern, and the rooms are clean and well serviced, if not the most up to date. I’d stay again, and it’s a good choice if you’re passing through or spending a weekend in Newcastle.

The front desk staff were the highlight of my one-night stay. They were professional, efficient, and genuinely helpful. The room, though, felt quite worn, with clear wear and tear on the furniture. Breakfast also fell short of expectations and didn’t feel in keeping with the overall price.

Staying here for the night turned out to be a great decision, since the forecast wasn’t promising for snow. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. We had dinner downstairs, drinks at the bar, then breakfast before leaving. It’s very convenient, directly across from the airport. I’d recommend it if you have an early flight and want to avoid worrying about getting there, especially in heavy snow.

It was a comfortable and convenient stay. Even though the hotel is right by the airport, the room was very quiet and we couldn’t hear outside noise. The place is clean and modern, the staff were friendly, and the airport is easily reached across the road. Can’t ask for much more.
