Travelodge Newcastle Gosforth

The Wi-Fi is £3.50 per day and painfully slow, while there’s no mobile signal at all in the bedrooms. I asked if I could move rooms, but was told reception was the same throughout the hotel. The only dependable connection I found was outside. Hard to believe this is happening in 2026.

Darren at the desk always makes us feel we’ll be looked after. He’s friendly, smiling, and goes out of his way without being asked. The place is good value and consistently clean, and I’ve never had a complaint.

The smell was awful, like drains or toilets backing up. We moved rooms and the new one seemed fine at first, but by the time we got back from our night out, it smelled just as bad. In the first room, the hand wash didn’t work and there was no soap. I’d never stay here again. I’ll ask Travelodge for a refund, though I can’t imagine I’ll get one. 🤢🤢

The rooms were really clean, the staff were nice, and McDonald’s is only a stone’s throw away. Win win.
