The welcome basket with tea, coffee, milk, wheaten bread, jam, butter and crisps was a lovely surprise. They'd also left marshmallows and logs ready for the outdoor firepit. We stayed for one night in January during the storm with our big chocolate labrador, Lucy, and it was such a lovely break. The house is stunning, with modern facilities and incredible views even in wild weather. It was spotless, warm and cosy when we arrived, and after a long walk the bathtub was a real treat. Lucy loved the place too, and we appreciated the bowls and spare dog bed in the boot room. We'd definitely return and recommend it for a comfortable, scenic, dog-friendly getaway.

Nathan was communicative and accommodating, and the location couldn't be better, with everything within walking distance. We come to Newcastle every year and have stayed in different places, but this is easily our favourite. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. The bed was so comfortable, the view is to die for, and our dog loved it too. Thanks, Nathan. We WILL be back!

The Mourne Mountains looked breathtaking from the house, and we had an exceptional day among the snowy top mountains. Even through a stormy weekend, the warm, cosy living space made it a lovely place to spend time with friends. Nathan has thoughtfully put everything together to make guests feel at home, with details that reflect his mountaineering passion and the location. Marie also worked behind the scenes to make the house welcoming. It's dog-friendly, which made it feel even more like home. We loved our special stay at The Hikers House. I'd highly recommend it for a cosy escape, and hope to return in brighter weather to enjoy the outdoor space and fire-pit.

The views are breathtaking, and sitting outside by the firepit was so relaxing. This cosy house has an amazing amount of attention to detail, making it the best place I've stayed. I can't wait to return, and highly recommend booking it. You won't be disappointed.
