There's very little parking in Newmarket, and the hotel has nowhere proper to park or even stop outside, so plan for that when you travel. The room in the eaves had plenty of character, though there wasn't much headroom in the bedroom or the outside hallway. Getting checked in was a bit awkward, dragging luggage through a busy restaurant. The location worked well for an event at the nearby Racecourse.

The rooms are lovely and luxurious, but getting through the front door was a problem. I couldn't work the keypad at 1am, and luckily two friendly policemen helped me wrestle with the lock.
4/10
This felt like budget accommodation, and the room had a strange smell. It was clean, which is about the only good thing I can say. The website photos are flattering, at best.
8/10
A comfortable, welcoming stay with an excellent breakfast and a handy central location. Just be aware that a room facing the high street can get noisy.
2/10
I had to cancel some of the nights I'd booked and paid the cancellation fee, but the refund we agreed on never came through. I called James many times and sent the details over repeatedly, but only got empty promises. Very poor customer service. I can't recommend staying here.
