Berties Lodge

I went a few days ago and the whole stay was awful. Please avoid this place. The room did have a great view, and I enjoyed hearing the local birds in the morning. The food was edible and the staff seemed warm and bubbly. The TV was massive, and the location opposite a Tesco's express was handy, with the beach a short walk away. But the bathroom had no lock, the water was only lukewarm, and one bathroom for eight people made timing a challenge. Another guest had a master card, which came in handy sometimes, though it was a relief when they didn't burst into your room at 2am. All in all, a great experience ;)

For a night out in the clubs and bars, this might work if you just need somewhere to crash, but I wouldn't choose it for a family trip. It's pretty basic, with a small room, an old 90s TV, a mediocre shower, and no food option. The room was mostly clean, though. We had some trouble with the key cards, and staff couldn't do much to help, but that only happened on our last night so it wasn't a big problem. I found it a bit overpriced for what you get, even in August, though I suppose it's a popular tourist spot.

The only good thing was being opposite Tesco express 😂. Otherwise, don't go. The beds were awful, the room was too hot, and everything felt crammed in. They put a bunk bed between two other beds but didn't provide a ladder, and there was no soap in the bathroom. Quite a few interesting choices. Don't go!!

The staff were fantastic, really friendly, and helped make up for the lack of facilities. We kept having trouble with the door and key card, but they were extremely helpful. The place is convenient for the beach and nearby shops and restaurants, and the price makes it hard to complain too much. The bathroom was completely bare, with no soap or towels. I liked being connected to the hotel next door, since we could spend time in its lobby. Just be aware of the £30 cash deposit per person. Getting it back at checkout was straightforward.
