The wedding itself was really enjoyable, and the staff were polite and attentive throughout. Service, timing, communication and food were all very good, as were the outdoor seating areas. The breakfast bag delivered the next morning was a real highlight. I stayed in Garden Rm 2: it was clean enough, the bed was OK, and there were logs for the small burner. The lit path made it easy to get to the hotel, though there was no hot tub or milk for a cup of tea. Some indoor lounge seats were uncomfortable, and the plants by reception kept poking people in the eye. For what was included, it felt a bit pricey.
The team were lovely across the board, from maintenance and reception to the breakfast staff. Our Garden Room was in a great spot for getting to the beach and nearby towns, and the facilities were first class. Coming back from a day exploring to relax in the hot tub was just perfect. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely recommend it.
We told reception what we'd found in the hot tub, and the receptionist apologized and said they would investigate. At checkout, we were told maintenance had drained and refilled the tubs between guests, and thought the garment may have been caught under the seat. My wife and I had paid extra for a garden room with a hot tub, and its temperature was just right. But when I put my hands down beside me while sitting in it, I felt something cloth-like. It turned out to be a pair of ladies' knickers, presumably left by a previous guest. That made the stay less enjoyable, and suggests the tubs need a more thorough check during changeovers. We were there for one night this week. Newton Hall is in a lovely location, even though it rained incessantly.
We had a lovely breakfast in the Hall the next morning, and it was handy to choose between eating there or taking it back to the room. The menu listed croissants and pain au chocolats, but only pain au raisins were available. Our first stay in a Newton Hall Garden Room was otherwise great: the room was quirky, beautiful, cosy, and comfortable, with everything we needed, including a lovely pink sink and plenty of tea and hot chocolate. We walked to The Joiner’s Arms for tea and borrowed the big umbrellas because it was raining. I'll definitely come back. It's become my favourite getaway spot.
We were four in the family and stayed in a garden room with a hot tub. The room was gorgeous, and we thought it was brilliant value. The location is hard to beat, whether you're after a romantic break or a family trip.
