We liked having different shared spaces, so family members could relax quietly or join the bustle. The two kitchens side by side also helped us divide up cooking for a large group, though a few more big spoons and bowls would have been handy. Most bedrooms were roomy, with some different sizes. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the place made a great base for reaching the Munros.

The views were spectacular, and the location was just right. We had a wonderful family stay in a beautiful house that felt warm and was spotless, with everything we needed to be comfortable. Couldn't find a fault, and we hope to come back soon.

There are lots of Munros nearby, as well as good places for birdwatching and cycling, so there was something for everyone. We stayed with 18 friends for our 41st annual Easter hiking trip in Scotland. The kitchens were well equipped, and we could all eat together around the large dining table. Rooms were comfortable and mostly en suite, though unfortunately our shower hose leaked badly.

We spent a few lovely days at the end of December at Alvey House, taking in the Winter Wonderland nearby and exploring further afield. The house was immaculate, and every bedroom had its own bathroom, with some larger than others but all perfectly usable. The carpets were so clean that I told everyone to take their shoes off and put on slippers before coming in. The kitchen had everything we needed. Wi-Fi was fast, though my Three 4G connection worked well too, so I mostly used that. Nobody else had any complaints. We walked the Wild Cat Trail, went to Ben Nevis, about an hour away, and visited the Cairngorm Mountains for the facilities and views. We also saw local lochs and trekked in Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve. The frosted trees and partly frozen lake were magical. The photos are all from Alvey House's grounds.

The garden gave the kids a lovely place to explore, and the location worked well for seeing the Highlands. It’s a huge, homely house with great facilities, including an en suite in every bedroom. The kitchen, dining room and lounge were all lovely.
