Highlander Hotel

The location is excellent, but sadly the hotel has seen better days. The rooms feel dated, and the old electric radiator on the wall looks a bit dangerous. The bathroom has been updated, but the shower doesn't drain properly and the shampoo bottle was empty. Our room was clean overall, and room service emptied the bins and made the beds. We tried dinner at the hotel on our first night and would avoid eating there. It seemed as if there were no chefs working. The food looked like it had been microwaved from a packet, with no imagination or presentation. After that, we didn't bother with breakfast. In my opinion, the price doesn't match the quality. The place needs serious refurbishment and a team of chefs.

Our carers group had a Christmas party night here, and it was a lovely, cosy hotel with beautiful decorations throughout the public areas. The organisers were efficient, and both dinner and breakfast arrived piping hot and tasted delicious. There were plenty of drinks, served by friendly staff. The music was really good, and we were up dancing in no time. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in Newtonmore. Thanks to everyone at the Highland Park Hotel for a fabulous night.

The town is small but interesting, with fantastic countryside all around, and the hotel sits just off a main route. It was great value, with warm, cosy, clean rooms and easy parking and access. Dogs are allowed for free, too. Reception and breakfast staff were friendly and professional. Thank you.

We had a marvellous Christmas. There was good food in generous portions, acceptable gifts from the hotel, a pantomime visit and evening entertainers who were all good. We also enjoyed the pipers and Santa Claus Tractor Parade. The staff were friendly and attentive. When the last entertainer came down with flu, they rallied and arranged a disco at the last minute. Well done to everyone who helped make our Christmas stay so good.
