The Bell Hotel

My friend was frightened and had a panic attack, so he left and I had to find him another hotel. He said someone tried to get into his room, and he didn’t feel safe there at all. I booked this place for him as an emergency one-night stay, but the room was awful: a towel and toilet paper were left in the toilet, something sticky was on the bed, the kettle had green water and something inside it, and the room smelled strange. There was mould all over the shower, its frame was coming apart, and it crackled when he was about to turn it on. At the front desk there was nobody, so I had to call someone to check him in. When a man finally arrived, he spoke very little English and struggled to open the door, trying about 15 times. He also had to be persuaded to give my friend the key so he could go out for food and get back in. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. Avoid it. It wasn’t worth £65 for a single room. My friend managed to take only one photo during the panic attack. I tried to get the money back and failed, so I lost £65. If zero stars were possible, I’d give that.

I stayed for three nights and was disgusted by how things were handled. Nobody seemed available, and it was very unprofessional. On the first night the shower head came off. I called the owner, who offered to move me, but I said one night without a shower head would be all right. He never got back to me. It was very noisy and there was no heating. The kettle was filthy, and the cup was even worse: I rinsed it in the sink, then poured Coke in and saw dirt at the bottom fizz up. Never again, I’d rather buy my own tent.

It’s 1:20 am on 26/8/24 and I’m wide awake because the noise from outside is ridiculous. We’re only here for tonight, thank heavens. The room was boiling hot, the beds were uncomfortable, and the walls and ceilings are thin, so you hear everything. It stank of tobacco and weed as soon as we walked in. The drawers were dirty, dusty, mouldy around the window, and full of loose tobacco and litter. There was shower gel from the previous guest left in the shower. The room was filthy, and there was no manager on site. Staff had to call someone to confirm the booking.

There was no front desk staff to deal with any of the problems, and the whole stay was a nightmare. People in the neighbouring rooms played loud music, so I couldn’t sleep. The shower had mould, the bedsheets were stained and made me question the hygiene, and the electrical outlets didn’t work properly, so I couldn’t charge my devices. Without a doubt, this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Save yourself the misery and avoid it.
