The White Lion

The roast potatoes were crisp outside and fluffy inside, and the meat was beautifully cooked and tender. Everything on the plate had loads of flavour, gravy included, and it all seemed freshly made with real care. We had Sunday lunch at the The White Lion in Niton, and it was honestly the best Sunday roast we’ve ever tasted. The cosy, relaxed atmosphere has that traditional pub feel, and we felt welcome as soon as we arrived. We left satisfied and already looking forward to going back. Highly recommended, 5*.

Fourteen of us stopped at the White Lion for lunch after a walk. I had the carrot and coriander soup of the day, which was very tasty. My husband chose the lamb lasagne with mixed leaf salad and chips, and enjoyed it too. Prices were reasonable, and the service was friendly and excellent.

Zara gave me a map of the island with handwritten suggestions for interesting places to visit when we were leaving the next morning. Breakfast was included in the room price and tasted very good. Peter and Zara greeted us with big, friendly smiles when we arrived for our one-night stay at the White Lion. The only downside was that the room was quite cold at first, and it took over an hour for the heater to warm it up. I’d strongly recommend staying here.

The room was small, but beautifully fitted out with everything you could want. Food was first class, and the staff were friendly and really helpful. Pete deserves a mention for looking after us from booking right through to when we turned in for the night. I stayed here for one night with my hubby on my birthday, and everything was excellent. We’re going to book again for his birthday in October, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
