We had lunch in the rear garden on Monday 25 May. Drinks service was good, and we enjoyed the food once it arrived, but it took an hour. We weren’t in a rush, though it was exceptionally hot and there was no shelter over the tables, which got uncomfortable while we waited.

We stopped in for a light lunch and were really glad we did. The service was good, the food lovely and the location very convenient. It was glorious weather, so we sat out front and enjoyed the lively street scene. It felt very European. There’s a great garden at the back too, so drop in for a drink or something to eat if you’re nearby.

Our golf group booked all 11 rooms. The service was outstanding, breakfast was great and everything was very clean. Some of the guys found the twin rooms small, but I’d book No 12 again.

A warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere go perfectly with the consistently great food. The log burner makes it feel even cosier. I had classic fish and chips with a bottle of Malbec and our chums. In my opinion, No. 12 serves the best supper in North Berwick.

We didn’t stay over, just stopped for lunch in the garden. It was heated and had everything we needed. The pizza and garlic bread were both very tasty, and the marinara sauce on the pizza was delicious. The garlic bread was fresh and tasty too, though I could tell it hadn’t just come out of the freezer.
