The location was absolutely amazing, with spectacular long walks along the beach. We liked our stay a lot and would happily go back. Staff were great, especially the girl in charge on Saturday night, who was very helpful. We had dinner in the modern conservatory, which was lovely, and enjoyed steak pie and steak. The fully Scottish breakfast was brilliant, though service was slow. We had to ask twice for tea and then ask again for toast. The staff seemed young and perhaps still finding their feet. A wee tip: bring tea soon after guests sit down. Breakfast itself was good. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including big, fluffy towels. The hotel has a cosy traditional feel. The bar had only a couple of beers on draft, but there's a lovely cosy wee pub across the road. We booked a weekend away for my wife's birthday and recommend the hotel.

The lounge was a lovely place to relax with a drink before dinner, with its log fire and comfortable seats. The hotel suits a quiet, peaceful break, whether you want to unwind or celebrate something special. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and nothing felt like too much trouble. We stayed overnight on a special Valentine's evening offer. Our room was spacious and comfortable, though a little dated. Dinner was delicious, cooked perfectly, and the service was first class. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, and it was delicious too, except for the coffee, which we really didn't like. The two young people on breakfast duty were working hard to keep everyone happy, but could have used some help to keep things running smoothly. Our toast was cold, and breakfast had finished before a fresh batch arrived. The hotel has new owners, who plan to bring in their own ideas and updates. We've enjoyed many meals at the Open Arms in the past and look forward to more in future. We wish the new owners and team well, hope things go smoothly, and hope to return soon with the family for another meal.

We had a wonderful two-night stay. The room was warm, clean and cosy, and we especially liked the fire in reception. Everyone was super friendly, with a special mention for Christine, who made us feel very special. Breakfast had lots of choice, huge portions and was absolutely delicious. We'd definitely return!

We had such a great evening at the hotel restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent. It had a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We'd definitely recommend it.

The old-fashioned charm makes The Open Arms Hotel feel like home to me. It's a smaller hotel than others nearby, so people tend to chat with you. As a solo traveller, I enjoy being able to say hello to other guests. Having a refreshment by the fire is cosy, too. The staff are friendly and know the area well. If you need help or advice, they're there for you, and if you don't, they leave you in peace. The computer room entry system feels very secure. I just wish the entry to your room was at 1500 hours. You don't need a car, though one is handy: the Edinburgh to North Berwick bus passes the front door, and there's plenty of parking. I had a tasty breakfast with a good choice. Breakfast has moved from the marquee room, so there's a lovely view now. My one suggestion would be to put the fresh juices beside the cereals so guests can pour them more easily. Leaving is easy: pack up and go out the front door, with no paperwork. One mention for the lady who's always around and so friendly and helpful. I think she's American. Looking forward to my next stay.
