The Gnu Inn

For my husband’s birthday, there were ten of us, including eight adults and two children. We pre-ordered to make things easier for the kitchen, and every dish came out piping hot at the same time. Lee and the rest of the team were so welcoming. Such a friendly little place, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The onion rings were enormous, like cart wheels, and the prices were reasonable. I had the scampi and chips, a generous serving with lovely scampi; my husband’s rump steak flatbread was delicious and beautifully presented. The lunch menu was good, and they were very on the ball with allergen information. It’s cosy, the staff are really friendly, and we’ll definitely be back. A real gem, especially for our first visit.

We’ve tried a number of places, and this was probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve had. It was all home cooked, tasty, and came in ample portions. Two courses, including dessert, cost £19, which was a bargain. We’ll be back. Thank you!

After a long day’s walk, the owners made us feel so welcome and were incredibly helpful. The room was fantastic and spacious, with all the facilities, and breakfast was good. The pub had a lovely feel and a great choice of beers. It was a night when the kitchen was closed, but they still went above and beyond to arrange a takeaway for us. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially walkers on the Yorkshire wolds way.
