We had a peaceful bank holiday break at a lodge in alder county park, and it was great value. There was plenty of room, plus a really good-sized hot tub to unwind in after a busy day. We also found it well placed for trips to Cromer, horsey gap to see the seals, sea palling and sheringham.

The place was so beautifully decorated and much bigger than we expected. Lori was warm and friendly when we arrived, and we had such an incredible stay that I didn't want to leave. We did have a problem with the hot tub jets, but it was sorted the next morning and worked perfectly after that. Can't wait to come back.

The park was quiet and well cared for, and the outdoor pool and gym were really clean. Our modern, spacious Lodge had great facilities, and the hot tub was a lovely extra. Lori at reception was friendly and very helpful. We also made the most of the handy location for the coast and the broads. Everything was perfect on our holiday with my partner, and we'll be back. What a find! Thanks so much! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We booked a last-minute bank holiday break. At first glance the lodge looked great, but then the problems kept appearing. The hot tub never got hot, so the kids were freezing and we couldn't really use it. We'd paid extra for it, and it would have been cheaper without. Dog hair was stuck all over the sofa and cushions. Handles were coming off every door, and a drawer had screws hanging loose, which wasn't safe with a 2-year-old around. The bath pipe wasn't connected, so it leaked across the bathroom and we couldn't bathe the kids. We tried the shower instead, but that leaked too and flooded the whole en-suite, leaving us with no way to wash in the lodge. The toilet kept running down the back whenever the stop tap was on, so it wouldn't flush. We rang the duty maintenance number. The man came to look and said there wasn't much he could do, and told us to contact management in the morning. We called then, but the office was shut for the bank holiday. Maintenance came the following day to 'fix' things, and we had to be out of the lodge all day. We also had to pay to use the swimming facilities just to have a shower. After the handles were fixed, the hot water stopped working, so we couldn't even wash the kids in the sink. I've tried contacting the country park and management several times since and heard absolutely nothing. Shocking customer service. We'll never return.

This was our second stay at Alder Country Park. We liked last year's three-day break so much that we came back for seven days. The lodge was clean, spacious and modern, with towels, bedding, central heating and a washer/dryer, everything we needed for the week. Set among grass and woodland, it's a quiet, calm, well-kept spot to get away from everyday busyness. There are plenty of handy options nearby: a local Premier shop, Sainsbury's and Lidl, a bar, heated outdoor pool and gym on site, a pub across the road, and a great chip shop a few minutes' drive away. Town is five minutes by car, with lots of parking, a nice high street and plenty of charity shops. The kids also had a park, playground and skatepark to enjoy. Bacton and Mundesley are a short drive away, and we saw seals swimming by along the coast. Lori and George in the visitors office are so lovely, kind and friendly, and did everything they could to help us settle in. John, the security and maintenance person who covers out of hours, was always available if needed. He made sure the hot tub was clean and ready each day. We used it daily, and it was perfect, with settings for the bubble strength and temperature. This place is absolutely worth a visit. We'll be back. Many thanks, Lori and George.
