The setting is beautiful, but after that it was downhill. I never saw a staff member. The rooms felt like they were from the Fawlty Towers era: no heating, hot water, shower, TV, breakfast, or double glazing. The stairs felt dangerous, with a door at the top, and the lights switched off on short timers. It was just miserable, an awful experience. I felt like they should have paid me to stay, not the other way round.

The location is nice and quiet, and the rooms are basic. For the accommodation price, it's very competitive, which is great. The trouble in winter is that the heating only comes on now and then. When it's off, the room is absolutely freezing. If you don't mind being cold, it's great, but if you do, you'll suffer.

It's comfortable, peaceful, warm enough for me, and a short walk from the train station. The value is excellent, at half the price of the Travelodge down the road. It's not fancy or modern, and I wouldn't call it a five-star place, but I gave it that rating because I think it's had some bad reviews before. I'll likely stay again.

Absolutely avoid this place. There was no hot water or central heating, the rooms were freezing, the beds damp, and the carpets disgusting. Staff checked me in, then disappeared until long after checkout and ignored phone calls. They seem unable to face the backlash, but were happy to take my money. An absolute hellhole. Stay away, it's not worth your time, money, or relationship. Disgusting.

It's in a lovely setting, and the rooms were clean and warm. I couldn't fault it at all and will definitely come back.
