Harmony Haven - Executive suite

Graham is the reason this place feels like a hidden gem, just a stone’s throw from Nottingham. It’s a shame he’ll be leaving the B&B business soon. He was very welcoming, checked that everyone had enough at breakfast, and the breakfast itself was lovely. We’d booked Richmond B&B for a gig at Rock City. Our room was the Derbyshire suite. It is small, but it’s a B&B and we couldn’t fault it. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the pillows were a real bonus for me. There was tea and coffee in the room, plus a fan, and the fish tank in the bathroom was a fun surprise. Toiletries and body lotion were also provided. My partner is 6'4 and found the cabin shower too short, which gave me a good giggle, though it wasn’t something Graham could fix. We didn’t use the communal lounge or garden, but both seemed nice.

Breakfast was superb, and our host’s service was just as good. The room was small but spotlessly clean and well equipped, and it suited us perfectly for one night. My wife would have liked a mirror near an electric outlet so she could do her hair. We’d stay again on our next trip to Nottingham.

The owner was lovely, gave us a parking permit, and made a fantastic breakfast. His hospitality was excellent, but the room felt rough and cramped, with barely room for a couple of bags. The shower was broken, the bathroom wallpaper was peeling, and screws were holding the curtain tiebacks in place. The towel radiator didn’t work, so there was nowhere to hang or dry towels. For £85, it didn’t feel worth it. It could be a great place with a little work. I wouldn’t tell people not to stay, but the photos are definitely misleading.

A lovely, warm room in a quiet spot, still not far from the city centre. There’s a surprise in the bathroom if you book the Derbyshire Suite 😀 🐠. Graham is a wonderful host, and breakfast was tasty as well as nicely presented. I’d definitely recommend it.
