Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel

I arranged a two-day course here last week, and the staff service was excellent. I especially appreciated how helpful Imani-Mae Kerr at reception was. She went above and beyond for me. The little things hotel staff do for guests can make a big difference. Thanks again, Imani-Mae. :)

The hotel's location worked really well for us, with very regular public transport into the city centre close by. We found everything clean and well appointed, and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Our modern room was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed, though I would've preferred a bath, which the hotel doesn't offer. The restaurant was pleasant but quite dimly lit. There hadn't been a food delivery during our stay, so the menu was very limited, but we enjoyed what we ordered. There's also an award-winning fish and chip restaurant a two-minute walk away. We'd highly recommend the hotel and would happily stay again.

I paid £169 for the night and left thinking I'd rather have stayed in a hostel. There was dust all over the top of the bed, on both bedside lights and in the bathroom, plus mould in the shower. For a four-star hotel, that's terrible. The receptionists were rude at check-in and didn't speak English, as I experienced it. Watch for the £12 parking charge and £50 deposit, which is refunded up to seven days after your stay. Those details are in the booking small print, on the last row. P.S. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the bar and restaurant team were especially attentive. The room felt cramped, though, and I kept hitting my shoulder on the wall-mounted TV while moving around the bed. The hotel allows pets, and the carpeted areas looked quite dirty. There was plenty of parking, but the spaces underneath the building were too low to open the boot on an SUV. There was also lots of outside parking, paid, with a discount if you register your vehicle. Thanks for your help, Imad.
