I couldn't sleep, even with ear defenders. There was loud noise until midnight, and I think people from a pub on the street were still dancing and shouting until 3am. The hostel itself had some nice things: a friendly reception, a pleasant kitchen and living room atmosphere, free tea and coffee, and a fairly well-equipped kitchen. My room was clean and the location is right in the centre, but there are lots of steps to get to the hostel, so keep that in mind if you're older.

The hostel staff were kind and helped create a sociable atmosphere. It was easy to find people to have a few beers with at the local pubs. Some of the uploaded photos are out of date, and I was told they plan to replace some of the furniture. A good place to stay in Nottingham.

The room was tiny, and the owner kept setting rules about what we could do, including saying we weren't allowed to eat or drink in the room. We had no warning that he lived there too, which felt weird and uncomfortable. He called before check-in time, pushing us to arrive early, then kept calling to ask where we were. There were a ridiculous number of stairs, and one bathroom next to our room was out of service. We got awful vibes and booked another hotel instead. Please avoid!

The stairs were a real pain, and the bunk bed creaked. The pillow was uncomfortable too. Getting the shower to a tolerable temperature took several minutes of fiddling with the controls, since most settings were freezing. Meanwhile, the bathroom light kept flickering on and off. The door lock didn’t seem sturdy, and the handle felt loose. City noise made it hard to sleep, and fireworks went off at one point for reasons I couldn’t work out. The entrance was fine, and the receptionist was okay.

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, with plenty of sockets in handy spots. The owner or manager was really friendly and chatty, too. Great location if you’re heading out for the night. I’d go back.
