Student Only Talbot Street

I’ve been here for my second year now and am very happy with it. For the price, the quality feels right, and I think it’s the best student accommodation in the city. Getting to NTU takes about seven minutes on foot, and there’s a bus stop right outside. The rooms have modern decor and two European sockets, which you don’t often find in British accommodation. There’s 24/7 security, which mattered a lot to me since many places only have reception open on weekdays from 9 to 18. Parcels are kept behind closed doors at reception, where only staff can get to them. There’s plenty of shared space for students, with study areas, billiards, table tennis, a gym and even a spa. They also run different events and competitions. The app lets you pay, check what’s coming up and report things that need fixing. Housekeeping comes once every two weeks, and rubbish is collected twice a week if you leave it by your door. The laundry is always kept clean too.

After three years here, I’ve had a wonderful stay. The place feels secure and clean, and mail and packages are handled well. I also like the housekeeping, the facilities, and how modern and comfortable everything looks. My one frustration is the kitchen button. It takes five minutes just to press it once, so I can’t get other food cooking at the same time.

I had a good first year at uni here. It’s clean and secure, the staff are friendly, and the gym and study areas are useful. Being so close to NTU is a big plus. It’s expensive for what you get, though, and feels more like a hotel than a student home. It’s not especially social, so I’d really suggest choosing shared accommodation here. The guest rules seem strict, with only two guests allowed in a room, and basic appliances like air fryers and blenders aren’t allowed.

The rooms are decent, the place is clean, and there’s a roomy communal area and gym. They clean the whole room every two weeks, which is a nice extra. The staff are generally friendly and respectful, apart from the bald receptionist with glasses. He always seems to have an attitude, and I don’t know what his problem is. Looking after the place is his job, and I don’t think he does it well.
