The Bollinger suite was so comfortable and beautifully decorated, with all the comforts you could want. I only stayed one night for work and wish the trip had been longer. Peter greeted me, showed me around, and brought me a chilled glass of wine to settle in. The lodge feels like a little haven in a quaint village, with views over the golf course that made it feel like a retreat. I’ll definitely return as soon as I can. Thanks, Peter, for a lovely stay.

Peter was a charming, funny host, and nothing was too much trouble. Our huge suite was spotless and comfortable, and he cooked delicious breakfasts to order whenever we wanted. We were welcomed with a lovely chilled glass of white wine, much appreciated after a difficult journey. There were thoughtful extras too, like a garden light show and a sherry decanter in the room, alongside the usual tea and coffee. We had a couple of really enjoyable days at this lovely boutique bed and breakfast.

I try to be fair when I write reviews, whether they’re good or bad, and I don’t use superlatives unless they’re deserved. This place deserves them. We’d booked the Garden Suite, which was already exceptional for the price, but the larger suite happened to be available. Peter, a perfect host, suggested we look at it. It cost a bit more, but I’d have happily paid twice the difference for it. The suite is spread over two floors. Downstairs there’s a dining table just for the suite, where breakfast is served, and a baby Grand Piano that adds to the palatial feel. Upstairs is huge and decorated in an Asian style, with interesting furnishings and fixtures that really work. There’s a large, comfortable lounge and a big double bed with a tiger stripe bed set that somehow looks classy, not tacky. From the bed, you look past designer Asian-themed trees framing what feels like endless English countryside and a golf course. In the middle is an ample, spotless bathroom, plus another, slightly smaller bed and lounge area that fits the overall look. There’s also a small balcony looking onto the front garden, and private parking for The Lodge. Across the road is a school and, beyond that, more countryside. I stood on the balcony for over 15 minutes at about 9:30pm and not a single car passed. It was so quiet. We had an adequate evening meal at the pub five minutes down the road. I texted Peter with our specific breakfast requests, and it was freshly cooked and served, as good as any breakfast I’ve had anywhere. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Thanks, Peter! Steve.

I loved staying here. My boss and I had a networking meeting a few minutes’ walk away. The place looked lovely, though I wondered if it might be a bit cosy. I had a spacious apartment downstairs, while my boss had his own space upstairs, and he was very impressed. We had a great stay, and Peter couldn’t have been more accommodating. Breakfast was beyond five stars, ask about the poached eggs. Thanks, Peter. We’re looking forward to coming back x

Such a lovely B&B. Peter is a great host, and there was a nice glass of wine waiting in the Bollinger suite when we arrived. It’s a beautiful, spotless, spacious suite. It was just the two of us, though it can sleep six. The local gastro pub is a two-minute walk away, and staying at the lodge gets you 10% off the bill. The food was delicious. Breakfast at the lodge was delicious too. Peter doesn’t have a menu, so you can ask for whatever you’d like and choose what time you want it. It’s served in the lovely music-themed dining room. We really needed a relaxing night together, and this was just the thing. Thanks, Peter. We’ll be back.
