The staff were really nice and friendly, but the room and corridors were shockingly run down. The window wouldn’t close because the latch was broken, and the electric radiator was rubbish. The tables, chairs, flooring and bed were all well past their best. Even the two small chairs were oddly placed, and the TV was tiny and on a stick. It all felt uncomfortable, old and neglected. There were also rowdy guests smoking and drinking by the entrance most of the night, though that’s not really the hotel’s fault. I know it’s budget, but Travelodge is normally pretty good. I’d have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. If you have to visit Nuneaton, the Premier Inn up the road is a better choice.

Reception didn’t have a visitors book for signing or show us where to go. There was no throw blanket, and nobody explained how to work the shower. The heating could have been a bit warmer. When I put the top up, there were no tea bags or milk, which wasn’t good. They need to check, as there wasn’t anyone around to ask. Would I stay here again? Maybe. These things need updating. The traffic can make it a bit noisy, but the rooms are good and the service was great. It wasn't too bad overall.

The room was spacious and worked well for what I needed. I was there for just one night.

The room was filthy: there was a large cobweb behind the bathroom door in the bottom left corner, the soap dispenser was empty, and the carpet needed vacuuming. We also had only one towel, one cup and one extra pillow, despite booking for two adults. The night receptionist, Frenkie, shouted at us and was rude, aggressive and confrontational. We gave her our room number, and although she seemed to think more than two people were there, she quickly realised her mistake. By then, though, I'd already been shouted at, and it looked as if she wanted a physical altercation. I've stayed at Travelodge over 100 times and have never encountered anyone so unpleasant there. In my opinion, someone with that kind of attitude shouldn't be dealing with customers. She could have focused on doing the job properly instead of arguing with us. What a disgrace.
