Quarry House

Jan made our arrival after a long journey much easier by having our food shop there and baking us a cake. She was lovely and very helpful, and our two dogs had a great time in the paddock. The house was spotless, fully equipped, and had everything we needed. It’s a stunning place, well located for Alton Towers and local kennels offering dog day care. We stayed from 30th Sept til 7th Oct 2022 and will definitely return to Quarry house.

The cottage itself was gorgeous, and my friend and I were already talking about coming back. We loved the snowy view by the log fire, how peaceful it felt, and the thoughtful touches. The landlady had even made a gluten-free cake and left a sweet note. But the end of our stay was really disappointing. We were a little late leaving because the checkout time was at the very bottom of the paperwork and hadn’t been included in any of the emails. The landlady rudely told us we had five minutes to get out, so we rushed to gather our things and go. When we realised we’d left shoes behind and returned, she looked at my friend with disgust and spoke to her like a child. We had also left some food in the rush, but otherwise left the house as we’d found it. There was no need for that treatment. After we’d paid quite a lot and were still customers, she didn’t even say goodbye or thank us. We left feeling unimpressed and sad that poor service spoiled the final day of an otherwise lovely break. I find it hard to believe she would have spoken to us that way if we were twenty years older.

The cottage was cosy and lovely, with little touches that made our New Year stay special. We felt very well looked after, and communication was great. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, thank you!

We all had a lovely week here, Pebbles included. The cottage is thoughtfully set up for dogs, and the gardens are lovely and secure.
