The Anchor Inn

We all have different things we can't eat, but the staff managed to accommodate everyone in our family. My vegan cottage pie was so tasty, and the food was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and helpful too. Thanks to Tamsyn and all the staff who served us. 10 stars 🌟 🤩

The bar was nice and the barmaids were friendly, but the room had some serious problems. There was no hot running water, so I had to boil the kettle to wash. The sink plug was broken and wouldn't come out to drain it, and the shower was rubbish. The bed was rock hard and rustled loudly whenever we moved. They also didn't top up the tea or milk, so three teabags for two nights wasn't enough. It cost over £110 a night, which I can't recommend. They did provide a complimentary drink and croissants because there was no hot water, but I don't understand why they were taking room bookings without basics like that. I run an Airbnb and wouldn't dream of opening for trade without hot water. Unheard of.

The beef was beautifully cooked, with plenty of vegetables and gravy. Another fabulous roast at the Anchor. The staff were joyful and efficient, just superb. A winning combination. Thanks, Team Anchor!

The old pub is cosy and has a lovely setting, and the service was good. We went just for Friday dinner in December and had pre-ordered from the set menu. The portions were decent, but the food was very average at best. The sea bass was much greasier than I expected, with deep-fried potatoes. Dessert was cheap store-bought profiteroles with cheap vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce 🤢
