The room was perfect, and I had a peaceful stay with helpful staff throughout. Ryan gave me a fantastic welcome, very polite, professional and informative. The bar staff were lovely when I stopped in for a couple of drinks before heading out. I'd highly recommend it.
We spent a wonderful weekend at The Wisteria in Oakham. The homemade tomato bread and Eton Mess pudding in the restaurant were out of this world, and breakfast was delicious too. Our room was clean and spacious, and the staff were incredible, friendly and happy. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. We’d highly recommend the food and the Wisteria, it was perfect all round!
We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was really good, with excellent service. Breakfast was plentiful, and the cooked dishes were local, fresh and tasty. The decor throughout the hotel was lovely, especially if you like bird prints. We spent two nights in the Hambleton Studio Suite, with breakfast only on the first and the dinner package on the second. It was a relaxing room with all the facilities you'd expect, though a coffee machine might suit a suite better than instant sachets. The brand new bed is now a super king, so there was plenty of room to stretch out. We'd certainly consider staying again.
We paid a very fair price for the stay. The restaurant food was delicious, though the portions were a bit large for me. My partner eats gluten free, and it was a relief that the restaurant staff understood and could answer our food questions straight away. Five stars for that. The hotel brings together several old properties dating back to 1600, which gives it plenty of character. There are some quirky areas, and I especially liked the bar with its original beams. There’s also a nice sitting spot for coffee or reading. Service was great, and the rooms were comfortable and a decent size. It had just turned to Autumn outside, but the room was so warm you couldn't tell. The castle built by William the Conqueror is a short walk away and free to visit, though closed Sundays. There are also some lovely independent shops nearby. Before leaving, I’ll pick up cheese and coffee, and have coffee at one of the nice coffee houses.
A very nice hotel, but choose your room carefully. Rooms 1 and 2 are in the older part of the buildings. Room 2 is near reception, so people pass by on their way in, and smokers gather outside the window to smoke and chat at all hours. The worst part is having a barrier of smokers in your way when you come or go. Please move the smoking area.
