The Sunday lunch was a highlight: beautifully presented, delicious, and brought out quickly. Breakfast was excellent too, with a small, thoughtful menu that covered different tastes and dietary needs. We booked one night at The Admiral Hornblower and got a genuinely warm welcome before being shown straight to our room. The whole place is thoughtfully decorated, with a bit of luxury alongside the charm of an older building. The floorboards are the creakiest I've ever heard, but they somehow add to the atmosphere and history. Staff were polite, attentive and genuinely helpful all the way through. We'd happily recommend it and hope to return.

We shared sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice-cream to finish, very decadent. Earlier, we'd had focaccia with balsamic and olive oil dip and olives, all delicious, then chose the grill with up to three sides. I had the grilled fish of the day; my partner had lamb chops with asparagus, triple-cooked chips and tomato salad. We both cleared our plates. We had a lovely Good Friday evening meal. The restaurant was busy but the service stayed attentive and very good. There was a comprehensive menu, and the plates I saw at other tables looked excellent too. A really lovely dinner with wonderful service. Highly recommend.

They served my 9-year-old daughter raw, undercooked chicken. Absolutely disgusting. They refunded the children's meals, but that wasn't the issue for me. I was worried there seemed to be no quality control or kitchen checks before food went out, when it could have given a child food poisoning. Their reply to my review didn't describe any specific steps to make the food safer in future.

The meal last night was sensational. We ate every bit of the delicious food, and you could tell there was a lot of care in the kitchen. Molly was a real front-of-house star: when the booking platform had only recorded two diners instead of five, she quickly sorted it out and made room for us. Everyone was so accommodating. Thanks to the whole team for such a special evening. Highly recommend!

The car park is small and a little hard to spot, though the postcode they give does take you there. We had a great overnight stay. The place has open fires, cosy sitting areas and friendly staff. We were in room 7, in an annex across the car park. It was clean, warm and comfortable, with everything we needed. I especially liked the adjustable shaving and make-up mirror in the large bathroom, the wonderfully soft towels and face cloths, and the adjustable bedside lamps. Breakfast was really good.
