Argyll Mansions

The apartment had loads of character and felt unique. The wooden floors and doors squeak throughout, which adds to that feel. The rooms were a little cold, but the electric radiators did the job.

The little one was thrilled with the ship themed bunk room, and my wife enjoyed spotting all the small surprises around the apartment. We stayed at Argyll Mansions this summer with our young child, and I can’t think of a better location or a more comfortable place. The decor was tastefully chosen, and everything we needed was there, from the dishwasher and coffee machine to generous welcome gifts. And then there was the sunset from the balcony. Definitely a must stay!

The apartment is spacious and still feels really cosy, like home. There are thoughtful touches everywhere, including pictures of 'old' Victorian Oban, and the photos don’t do it justice. We loved staying here and wouldn’t choose anywhere else on a return visit. The location is great, and the views are much better than the ones we get at home. We’re looking forward to coming back next year.

We spent ages watching the harbour from the dining and sitting room windows, and the main bedroom looks out over it too. The apartment is immaculately kept and well furnished, and our daughters quickly claimed the other rooms, with the youngest loving the bunk beds. We travelled to Oban by train for a car free holiday. The apartment looks across the harbour towards Kerrera and Mull. The short crossing to Mull is breathtaking, with hills and mountains all around. Kerrera has good walks in very open countryside, though good boots are recommended. We hired bikes from Nevis Cycles and rode off road to Connel. The hire was good value and the shop gave great advice. Our girls, aged 10 and 12, had a great introduction Kayaking session at the kayaking and activity centre just around the corner from Argyll mansions. The Oban distillery tour was interesting, and the malt whisky was recommended. We also highly recommend the food and beer at Cuan Mor, especially the excellent vegetarian Nut roast.
