Heatherfield House

The hostess was kind and welcoming, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and very nice. It’s a peaceful location a little away from busy downtown Oban, but you can walk to the action in five minutes. A really great place, and I’d love to come back anytime.

June, Owen’s mother, serves breakfast and is lovely and accommodating. You can choose from several good options, and there are also cheeses, smoked salmon, toast, cereal, milk, juice, and fruit each day. We had porridge every morning, plus croissants and tea, and it was all top-notch. Owen welcomed us and carried our bags upstairs, which was a real help with my recently repaired foot. The historic Oban home has a beautiful garden and fascinating history. Our room was cozy but adequate, and the bathroom was private down the hall a few steps. It only had a tub, with a hand shower. The one drawback is the very steep drive up to the house. If walking uphill or on loose gravel is difficult for you, take a taxi from the terminal or station. It’s only about 4£-5£ and worth it.

Room 2 upstairs was spotless, with a comfy bed, nice decor, and a lovely view of town and a corner of the harbor. There was ample parking, and downtown Oban is an easy walk from this charming old B&B. We stayed just one night and enjoyed the clawfoot soaking tub, a nice way to unwind with herbal tea after travelling. It’s great for a short stay or if you love baths, but over several nights it could be a pain to wash your hair in it. Friendly service, and a cooked breakfast with several options in the morning.

My sister and I had a large room that was easy to get to, in this gorgeous hillside home. The B&B is beautiful, with a fantastic breakfast: a full Scottish if you’re hungry, plus plenty of lighter choices. Town and the ferries are both very walkable. Highly recommend.
