The bed was comfy, there was tea and coffee in the room, and they let us take our bar drinks upstairs. The old-fashioned lift was a fun touch. We didn't use the gym or pool, though they looked nice. The room felt a little run down, with a broken toilet flush and a bathroom door that wouldn't lock. The floor squeaked badly, and the windows wouldn't open, so it got really warm, but they did provide a fan. Staff were lovely, friendly, busy, and helpful. Rooms were reasonably priced, the buffet dinner was good value and simple, and there was a decent dessert selection. The bar had a good range of drinks at fair prices. Parking was free and spacious, and other bars and pubs in Stockport were within walking distance.

The dining table had a huge sticky smear on it. We asked for it to be wiped, but it was still there at breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was disappointing too: the mushrooms seemed to be frozen and the toast arrived cold. The food was cooked but very basic, and the coffee machine was probably the highlight of eating there. We were on a mystery tour, which wasn't expensive, so we weren't expecting anything spectacular, but the hotel was still a letdown. From outside it looked like a prison, and the inside wasn't much better. The corridors and especially the bedroom smelled of stale cigarettes. The bed wasn't what I'd call comfortable, though it wasn't awful, and the pillows were the best part of the room 😂. The bathroom worked, but didn't feel clean: there were odd marks on the sink and bath, a sticky floor, and handprints on the tiles. The room ventilation wasn't great, though it was a 30-degree weekend, so that wasn't all down to the room. In the morning there were some unsavoury characters drinking outside. I wouldn't have stayed longer than one night, and I wouldn't come back.

The room was spotless, and they kept the tea coming without limit. Staff were pleasant and helpful, especially the night porter, who was really patient when our key card wouldn't work. The room was small and the bed was hard, but it was excellent value. I'd stay again.

The bar and restaurant staff were brilliant, and the food was average but edible. I was given the correct information about evening meals. Reception, though, was anything but helpful. They didn't offer help with the wheelchair ramp, and when I nearly fell out of my wheelchair, nobody helped me get back up either. Room 7 seemed not to have been used in a while. It smelled very musty, so I had to leave the window open all the time. This was my third visit, but I'd only return if it were the only hotel available.

The room was too cramped for two adults, two kids, and a dog, and it was unbearably hot with no air conditioning or fan. There was a kettle, but I had to ask before they brought tea and coffee. I also paid extra for the dog and there wasn't even a water bowl. Nobody slept all weekend, and we couldn't wait to get home. Wouldn't recommend this place 😕
