Lobhill Farmhouse

Jane shared a lot about the house and local history, and Adler Vineyards next door is part of the family, who have been in the area for many years. Lobhill Farmhouse B&B is near Lewdown, just outside the edge of Dartmoor National Park, so it worked really well as a base for exploring the north and west of the moor. We spent our days walking and visiting the tors. Our room was one of the three B&B rooms, with a comfy bed, pillows, and duvet. The large bath had a good shower, towel racks, and enough soap. Breakfast started with yogurt and lovely granola, made and sold professionally by the owner's sister. There was plenty of juice, coffee, tea, and croissants, along with a full English breakfast ordered from the menu the night before.

We tried booking through the website, but no confirmation came through, so we phoned and were told the booking was confirmed. It turned out the room had been double booked. We were charged twice, then another payment was taken on the day. They gave a two week cancellation notice as the reason, though that didn't apply. Three payments were taken in total, and no refund or voucher was offered. The total cost was £355. The place was virtually empty on our dates.

Jane's breakfast was excellent, and the location made it easy to get to lots of places in Cornwall and Dartmoor. We stayed five nights in the Green Room, which was spacious and welcoming, with a huge bathroom and plenty of hot water. Jane's thoughtful extras around the room and house made it a lovely stay. We really didn't want to leave and could easily have stayed longer. Her self-catering cottages looked amazing too if B&Bs aren't your thing. We hope to come back one day. Highly recommend.

Breakfast had a good range of locally sourced ingredients for a cooked meal, and Jane is an excellent cook. Eating in the big farmhouse kitchen gave the stay a real homey, relaxed feel. I could have stayed there all day. We spent two nights at lobhill farm, and knew as soon as we arrived that we'd found a gem. The peaceful grounds were well kept, with lovely views and plenty of parking. Jane was warm and welcoming, and had thought of everything. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotless, with fresh milk, chilled water, lots of tea choices, and homemade fudge. She clearly has a good eye for detail. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept really well. Thank you, Jane. We'll definitely be back.
