After a brisk walk on the local moorland, we stopped in for a late snack. We got a warm welcome and refreshing drinks, then shared a ploughman’s lunch that was generous and really enjoyable. Great spot, and I was glad they stayed open all day.

We booked a table on a very wet Wednesday evening and walked into a friendly bar with a lively feel. We tried three different pies and all were superb, which is high praise from us Northerners. The desserts were just as good, and there was a great choice of local beers. We enjoyed the whole visit and will definitely come back next time we’re in the area. Thanks!

A lovely village, great walks, and a must see pub. Inside, there’s a real fire, a cracking atmosphere, welcoming hosts, and fine local beers. Park in the car park and respect the locals.

The food was incredible and the staff were fantastic at our Sunday lunch. It’s a great place to eat after a walk, or you can do one of the lovely Dartmoor circuits and stop here along the way. Book ahead for Sunday lunch: it was extremely busy when we visited, and they serve in two sittings, at 12 and 2.30.

A fantastic country pub, well worth a visit if you’re nearby. We had delicious food and found both the older gentleman and younger barman welcoming and friendly. There’s a great selection of local lagers, plus tables out back with a lovely view in the sunshine. 10/10.
