The Waggon Inn

We've eaten here many times, both as a group and with our partners, so it was disappointing that a meal that was meant to be a lovely occasion went this way. We were a group with an elderly lady, and not being looked after properly was especially hard for her. My friends had arrived 20 minutes before me, and their drinks came just as I got there. We then waited over 40 minutes without anyone taking our order. I had to catch a waitress's attention while she was serving other people. We understood it was Christmas and busy, but that level of inattention wasn't acceptable. My steak was tough and not very hot. The elderly lady is diabetic and had soup, and we would have mentioned that, but no one asked any of us about allergies at the start of the service. We were all very disappointed, and I felt I needed to share this.

The building is lovely inside, and the staff are friendly and excellent. We always enjoy the food at the Wagon. If you're in uppermill and can get a table, it's a must!

I've never written a review before, but this was the worst meal I've ever had, and at £49.50 I won't be going back. The food was absolutely abysmal. I ordered rag pudding with chips, peas and gravy. It took 40 minutes to arrive, looked like it had been microwaved, and had three different colours. I chopped it up and moved it around the plate, but it wasn't edible. The chips were hotter than the pudding, and the mushy peas seemed microwaved too. My partner's hamburger was falling off the plate. We'd gone in with a £50 voucher we'd lost, but they honoured it after we showed bank statements and emails. At reception we waited 10 minutes before someone took us to the table. A very nice lad asked what we wanted to drink, then another 20 minutes passed before a young girl asked if we were ready to order. We had breakfast with the family and everyone enjoyed their food. The Turkish eggs were cooked perfectly, as were all the different dishes everyone else ordered. The staff were lovely, attentive and really friendly. I'd highly recommend it.
