We first stumbled across this pub last year and said we’d return. They kindly let us stay overnight in the camper van for free. This time we booked one of the rooms on site, and the stay was first class again. The staff, food and accommodation were all great, the room was very good value, and we liked the location. They even let our Labradoodle stay without charging us. I’d give it six stars if I could.
We enjoyed the food, and it suited the different ages and preferences around our table. There were a couple of small issues with the vegetables, but nothing concerning. Mum didn’t manage to eat her whole meal, as we’d expected, and that wasn’t a reflection on the food’s quality. We took our three children and Mum to Smugglers Inn for an afternoon Christmas meal. The place has plenty of character and felt warm and welcoming, with a relaxed festive atmosphere that made the family occasion enjoyable. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional without making anything feel forced. The food was very good and nicely presented. It’s a lovely spot for a meal, and I’d happily return or recommend the Smugglers Inn for a family gathering or seasonal occasion.
Mary looked after us so politely and made the evening enjoyable. We came for dinner to celebrate my wife’s 31st, and they found us a quiet spot for our dog. It was very dog friendly, and we’d recommend a visit without hesitation.
We often stop in for a quick drink on the way back from a long walk. The place is dog friendly, the food menu has plenty of variety, and the service is always fast, friendly and polite. It looks absolutely gorgeous outside in the sunshine. Prices are a bit steep, but perhaps that keeps the riff raff away.
After a wet, windy walk on the coastal path, this was such a cosy, warm place to duck into. The atmosphere and cleanliness were faultless, and all the staff were great. Louis made us feel welcome as soon as we came in today for a snack (9.2.26). We had coffees and chocolate croissants, and the dog got treats and water from a very good dog station. This is the third Hall & Woodhouse inn we’ve visited, and we’ll make a point of seeking out more. I hope Louis is the manager. If he isn’t, he should be!
