An Airbnb disaster meant we needed somewhere to stay at short notice. Louie was relaxed, funny, welcoming, and so helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. It’s homely and low key, with simple, clean, well-equipped rooms and no bells and whistles. Lovely host. I’d stay again.

We stopped in for a drink after a fabulous night at the Courthouse. After sitting down with our drinks for about 20 minutes, the bell rang, so the three of us went to the bar for one last round before heading home. We were told the bar was shut and that the bell meant closing time, even though we hadn’t heard a last orders bell. The two barmen were quite frankly rude. They said they usually go around to each table to let customers know it’s last orders, but for some reason hadn’t done so that night. We won’t be coming back. A customer service course could help the two people who were serving the bar that night.

Louie made us feel very welcome when my mum and I stayed the night. The bedrooms were really nice and very clean, and we both enjoyed our stay.

Between concerts at the church around the corner, we came in for food. The staff were upfront that there might be a slight wait, and the meal was delicious. It was a generous portion, so the staff member kindly gave me a container to take some away. Hope to visit again!

We found the fireplace area really cosy and quiet enough for us, while people were chatting in the bar around the corner. The bartender was nice, and the beer was good and reasonably priced. Great pub.
