The garden has been a big hit with the children, with its little paths and all sorts of places to hide and explore. Inside, the house is spacious and full of history and character, with a relaxed, proper home feeling. My daughter says she feels like she’s living in a book. It’s very well equipped for busy families, with plenty of bathrooms, lots of hot water and everything we needed. We all love it and hope to return.

The garden highlight was a muntjac deer wandering about most evenings at around 8:30. It’s a great place for a big group or family, with clean, lovely facilities, comfy beds and plenty of plates, pans, cutlery, games, seats and sofas. The location’s great too. The one problem was the thin curtains. In six of the seven rooms, so much light came through that we were woken at 5am every day.

We had a fantastic week here with family and young kids, and would definitely return. The huge garden has chairs and barbecue facilities, great for eating outside, and there are cots and a high chair for little ones. Inside, there are seven large, tastefully decorated bedrooms, plus spacious lounge, dining and breakfast kitchen rooms. The cottage was clean, beautifully presented and really spacious. Overstrand is a quaint village with a lovely High Street, and the beach is about five minutes away. The White Horse, with a family beer garden and kids' play equipment, and the village store are both within two minutes. It’s also a great base for exploring the north Norfolk coast, with Cromer close by either along the beach or over the cliffs. We’ve stayed in quite a few holiday lets, but this one’s been the best by far.

The open layout with no gates at all leaves the place opening straight onto Overstrand’s main road, which felt completely unsafe for young children or dogs. That’s a big drawback when it’s advertised as child and dog friendly. Without kids or dogs, though, it’s a beautiful, luxurious, fully equipped holiday home, in a perfect spot with a beautiful garden. I’d highly recommend it for those without children or dogs.

We had a lovely family holiday in this beautiful cottage, in a lovely little village and just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. I’d recommend it for a big family get together and would happily return.
