My father and I recently spent Christmas at The Sea Marge Hotel, and it was a gorgeous place for the holiday. The staff were warm, friendly, attentive and efficient, and it was fantastically dog friendly. A special thanks to Sarah and Sam. The old building is exceptionally well maintained and full of charm, with lovely grounds in a fantastic location. I’m sure it would be superb in any season.

We had a nice Saturday evening dinner here in late October, and we’ll return in the future. The bar was warm and welcoming, with very friendly staff, and we enjoyed cocktails before dinner. In the dining room we had three courses, and everyone enjoyed the food, though I felt the prices were too high for the quality. The waiting staff were attentive and prompt, but it was disappointing to watch the team set up and close down the restaurant while we were still eating our mains, especially as it wasn’t late.

The Sea Bass and Black Cherry Bakewell Tart were both worth recommending. We had a smashing evening in the cosy bar, with excellent food and service all round. Sonia was especially delightful.

Those restaurant tables were awkward: the centre supports left little room for your feet, and some two-person tables had the seats side by side instead of facing each other. Beyond that, we had a pleasant two-night stay, with bed, breakfast and evening meals. Our roomy sea-view room was clean and well looked after, and the public rooms had plenty of seating and were nicely appointed.

The function room was nicely presented, and the hotel was clean and tidy. We were there for my grandson's first birthday, not an overnight stay. The location is outstanding, with sea views and the beach just a 10-minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful.
