The riverside walk into town and on to the seafront made the location especially handy, and there’s a cinema just around the corner for a rainy day. We only booked two nights and immediately wished we’d made it a week. Canterbury House is a real find, and we wouldn’t choose anywhere else in Sidmouth now. Marc and Jan were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, far beyond what we expected. The huge rooms were spotless, the WiFi was steady, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb, possibly the best we’ve had at a B&B. We couldn’t fault our stay.

Breakfast was delicious, made with locally sourced produce, and the hosts gave us useful recommendations for Sidmouth. Marc and Jan greeted my partner and me with smiles and made us feel very welcome. Our room was a good size, and we both slept brilliantly in the firm, comfortable bed. A lovely guest house with a great team who are happy to help. Well done, Marc and Jan.

We’ve stayed with Marc and Jan twice now, and the location is just right for Sidmouth. It’s a lovely guest house, with a nice room and a great choice at breakfast. They’re perfect hosts, and I’d happily recommend staying here.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms spotless, and I’d gladly come back. I’m vegan, and Jan and Mark made sure I had plenty to choose from at breakfast: plant milks, soya yoghurt, fruit, vegan butter and sausages. They even swapped the duck feather pillows for me. That kind of thoughtfulness meant a lot. Both hosts were friendly and took the time to get to know their guests. Vegan guests needn’t worry about being accommodated here.

Breakfast was delicious, with something for everyone, and Marc and Jan made sure nothing felt like too much trouble. They were thoughtful, generous hosts, and took care to follow Covid 19 safety measures while still giving excellent service. Canterbury House was clean, comfortable and centrally located. We’ve just come home from a lovely stay.
