Sid Valley Country House

We had a brilliant four-night stay in one of the self-catering cottages. It was spotless and stocked with everything we needed, from fluffy white towels and crisp bedding to L’occitane toiletries. The pool was warm, clean, and ready for us to enjoy in the sunshine, with sun loungers set out. Steve and Sarah were lovely hosts and happy to help with anything. Our whippet had a great time playing with their sweet black labs, Max and Benson. There are good walks nearby, and Sidmouth and other beaches are only a short drive away. A lovely place to stay.

Stephen and Sarah went out of their way for us before we even reached the hotel. Two tyres had gone flat on a Devon lane, and when I called to say we'd be delayed, Sarah immediately offered to collect my partner and our dog. Later, Stephen drove me to pick up the car once the tyres were replaced. That says a lot about their hospitality, which was outstanding throughout. We stayed in the Stable self-catering room, with lovely valley views. It was clean and comfortable, with a heated bathroom floor and a gorgeous shower. The hotel sits in an idyllic spot, with beautiful grounds and lots of space to walk the dog. We ate at the hotel twice and both meals were amazing, with generous portions. We had a wonderful few days and only wish we'd booked longer. Thanks for everything, we'll be back.

We ate dinner a couple of times, had sandwiches for lunch, and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast had an amazing range and everything was first class. Sarah and Steve made us feel at home, and the hotel was sparkling clean and in good repair. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the heated pool was clean too. A fabulous stay, and we'll definitely return.

The views are stunning, the beds are comfortable, and the self-catering lodges are spacious and well designed. With its natural surroundings, it's a perfect place for nature lovers and bird watchers. Sarah, Steve, and Benson gave us the warmest welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation had fantastic attention to detail. Such a special place to stay, and we can't wait to come back.
