Harbour Hotel Sidmouth

We came for a spa day with lunch, mostly to relax and be pampered, and that’s exactly what we got. The hotel, restaurant and spa staff were warm, helpful and friendly, and we really enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Lunch was fabulous. We had a window seat with a beautiful view. The starters were mussels with cider and cream, and pear salad with radicchio and blue cheese, I think. For mains, I had steak cooked just as I asked, and my friend had stone bass on olives and potatoes with thin fennel slices and a delicious sauce. I may not have every detail quite right, but both dishes were wonderful. We picked one dish from the set menu and one from the festive set menu, then shared a perfect crème brûlée. We live locally and had been needing a bit of a break. Thanks to everyone who made the day so memorable.

The staff made our stay feel extra special, and my sister and I had a lovely time. The hotel was in a perfect spot, clean throughout and had great facilities included. A lovely treat, and we’d recommend it to others. Thank you!

We had a good sized room with a small balcony, which was a nice surprise. The weather meant we couldn’t make much use of it, though. There are spa facilities and both indoor and outdoor pools, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The location is great, with Sidmouth centre and the beach within walking distance and Connaight Gardens just up the road. There are great views, including from the bright restaurant, where the food was excellent. We’d definitely return.

Imogen at reception really made our stay. She was warm, professional, quick to respond and always thinking ahead to make sure we had what we needed. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and she handled everything with care and efficiency. She’d be a great fit for a promotion or management role, or for training others in customer service. She’s an incredible ambassador for Harbour Hotel. Callum in the restaurant was great too. The kitchen was extremely busy, but he arranged dinner for us quickly after our long drive and brought it over himself. We really appreciated that. Breakfast was another highlight, with a good cooked option and continental choices including overnight oats, charcuterie and freshly baked pastries. Sitting outside on the terrace felt especially idyllic and relaxing. The room was quite hot, and there was no air conditioning. We had to prop the door open with a chair for several hours to cool it before bed. Since we were in the annex, we didn’t feel entirely comfortable leaving the window open overnight. Still, we had a great stay and will be back.
