We paid over £200 a night for a double room, and at that price you could get a four-star hotel in the actual city centre near the Royal Mile. I don’t think this place was worth more than £80 a night, maybe £100 if King Charles personally brought breakfast in bed. After one night we moved to somewhere near the Royal Mile for half the price, breakfast included. Don’t let yourselves get ripped off. Avoid it. Our room was on the second floor and there’s no lift. There was no breakfast, and the Wi-Fi only worked now and then. Major attractions were either a 20-minute bus ride away or a 25-minute walk. The carpet looked older than Edinburgh Castle itself.

Jennet and Graham were lovely and friendly, and the service was great. We enjoyed a generous, delicious home-cooked breakfast. The room was spacious and clean, and the location was great for walking to the old town and the castle. I’d suggest adding a chest of drawers or a desk. There was nowhere in the room or bathroom to keep my makeup and toiletries.

It’s in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of sights and amenities. The room was decent, though there’s room to improve it. There was nowhere to sit except the bed, and the thin walls meant we could hear the neighbours. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our four days, and the bathroom’s motion-sensor lights were a bit annoying. Generally acceptable.

They kept in touch and sent us useful information. The room was nice, though small, and so was the bathroom. We had a problem with the electronic lock on the outside door, but the management company fixed it quickly.

We felt very welcome at The Adam Drysdale House. It’s right in the centre of Edinburgh, and the rooms were nice and clean. Janette & Graham were lovely hosts, more than friendly, and the Scottish breakfast was delicious.
