We had a very large family room with everything we needed, and there’s a swimming pool for guests in the peaceful grounds. The building is beautiful, though a little shabby in places, and still lovely to stay in. Breakfast was nice, with a full cooked option as well as croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals. Great value for money. I'd recommend it and plan to return.

The music room is breathtaking, with huge chandeliers, and the pool is good too. Our comfortable, clean room was a good size, in the main house, with lovely views over the mature garden. The old hotel has an interesting history and plenty of character, though much of the interior decor feels tired and dated. That didn't spoil our stay, and breakfast was plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you're offered a room in the annex, you might be disappointed.

There was plenty to choose from at breakfast, and the cooked meal was lovely. Our room was fresh and clean, and the hotel is in beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly when we arrived and again at checkout. We'd definitely stay again.

The hotel handled our large group of musicians very well, and we found it excellent value. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's a delightful old place, tucked away from the road but only a short walk from the seafront. Rooms are well appointed, though not posh. Breakfast was good, while dinner was serviceable. They cater for groups as well as individuals, couples, and families, but I didn't see any packages without an evening meal. Correct me if I'm wrong, as that could put off people wanting to explore Sidmouth's evening food spots.

Breakfast was quite OK, and the staff were very friendly. The free indoor pool is a real plus and makes this hotel worth its four stars. Our top-floor room had no WiFi signal, though, and the shower pressure was low. It also took several minutes for the water to warm up. Parts of the hotel and room looked old and worn, and the thin doors let corridor noise through. There were also a lot of children staying when we visited. It felt a bit expensive, though we booked late, so that may have been our fault.
