The Byes is right nearby, with the river Sid running through a long park and lovely walks that seem to go on as far as you like. The hotel itself has kept its comfortable, homely feel since being refurbished a few years ago, including a proper lounge. It’s a traditional seaside hotel, around a 5-10 minute stroll from the seafront. Being slightly back from it makes the setting quiet and secluded.

We were upgraded from the standard room we’d booked, and found it very clean. The hotel has parking and sits in a lovely quiet spot, still only a short walk from the seafront. Both dinner and breakfast were first class. We’ll be back sometime.

We arrived late and exhausted just as the kitchen was closing, and had been planning to head to the pub. The assistant manager spoke with the chef, who kindly offered to make us a simple fish and chips because it was raining. She even helped carry our suitcases upstairs. Our dietary needs were no problem either. The stay was quiet and relaxing, everything was very clean, and it’s an easy walk to everything. The meals were outstanding. I’ve added a picture of the fish and chips.

We stayed Saturday night through a thoroughly miserable rainy day. The hotel felt welcoming and was well placed. Our room was nice, with a decent bathroom and a good sized bed. Breakfast was good, and the morning waiting staff were excellent.

There’s a garden and a decent sized lawn in the hotel’s beautiful grounds, plus plenty of free parking. The owners are friendly, and service and breakfast were excellent. It’s in a quiet spot beside a public park, only a few minutes’ walk from the main town.
