100 Banbury road Oxford

The owner was welcoming, and the rooms were spacious, very clean, and nicely equipped. There are a couple of good pubs and restaurants within an easy walk. The university is about a 30-minute walk away, or a short Uber ride. A lovely place, and I plan to stay again.

There’s no reception and no real person to speak to. I couldn’t get an answer from the hotel about luggage storage, which apparently isn’t available, or whether the code they sent a month earlier would work. Calling this a four-star hotel seems wrong. It feels more like a factory let than a hotel, and the room was incredibly small. Even EasyHotel would be better. There wasn’t so much as a bottle of water. Don’t stay here.

I chose the least expensive room, so it was small, but it had everything I needed. Costa was a lovely host and checked each day that I was all set. The bathroom was new, with good water pressure, and they replenished the tea and coffee daily. I was looking for somewhere clean, safe, reasonably priced, and close to St. Hugh's College. 100 Banbury Road met all of that. It’s a self-check-in place rather than a full-service hotel, and the process was very easy, with clear instructions emailed before I arrived. There’s no housekeeping or concierge service. Though it’s on a busy street, the neighborhood is lovely, with green spaces and the shops and restaurants I needed nearby. I walked everywhere and would stay again on a future Oxford trip.

My room was small, clean, and looked onto the garden, which made it very quiet. The shared rooms downstairs were spacious. It’s a pleasant Victorian house in a nice neighborhood, with a good atmosphere.
