The bed was good and the staff were pretty nice, and the price is in line with what you get. But the dorm I stayed in had around 17 people in a cramped ensuite room. We had to leave the windows open, which was unpleasant in winter with the smell and wet towels. It's also right beside a club, so noise can be an issue. The place looks a bit worn and could use a renovation.

I was there for a week. It's inexpensive and a great place to meet people, though the rooms sometimes smell like cheese. Some odd things go on in the kitchen. A friend of mine was having “fun” in there, which seemed pretty crazy with cameras everywhere and staff able to check the CCTV, but she didn't mind. There was also a man who seemed to fall asleep on the couch all the time while I was there. I hope he's doing okay.

The rooms can smell, though I can't blame the staff for that. It usually seems to come from travellers' smelly socks or feet, or damp clothes and shoes. Meh. Otherwise, it's a clean, tidy place. I stayed two nights and walked around barefoot for three days without finding anything slimy or gross on the floor. The staff were polite, friendly, and really nice. It's cheap, cozy, and quiet. The rules against food and loud noise in rooms are very strict, so it's not ideal for party people, but it suits anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet stay.

The manager personally sorted things out when I realized I'd booked the wrong room for the wrong date and needed somewhere to sleep that night. She found the last bed and called me back, so I wouldn't be left without accommodation. She also waived a fee she could have charged for the last-minute change and cancellation. The place was very clean and comfortable, with plenty to do in the common areas, a really nice kitchen, and somewhere to secure valuables. Everyone on staff I met was incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd absolutely stay again. Thank you, Backpackers!
