I had to miss my booking because of a family emergency. When I asked for a refund, the property said no because of its policy, which was fine, so I tried to change the dates instead. They didn’t reply, and after I followed up twice, they told me to go through booking.com, even though that was what I was already doing. I explained that the property needed to accept the date-change request, but got no response. Booking.com customer service contacted them for me and got the same answer, so they tried again. Then I was told changing the dates would cost another £25. I refused because the new dates I’d picked cost the same as my original booking. I messaged the property again and heard nothing. By then my booking date had passed, so I went directly to booking.com for a refund, and the property said no. I’ve now disputed the charge with my bank and will take it to a manager. Absolutely shocking customer service and communication.

On a winter night at 10:30pm, I tried to shower, but only cold water came out. I let it run for 20 minutes and it was still cold. I can put up with old facilities and having no staff available at night, but a hotel should at least provide hot water for a shower. I can’t accept that it didn’t.

Bed bugs! I found them on the bed, and the property wouldn’t give me another room, apparently because it was full. They tried to gaslight me, saying they hadn’t received any earlier complaints. There was no one at the front desk, so the whole conversation happened over the phone. We left after midnight, but they refused to refund us. I messaged to ask about it and they ignored me.

The rooms are clean and the staff are polite. It’s right in the center of town, and I’ve stayed in nearly every room. I can’t say a bad word about the place. Great place to stay.

The room was basic but had the necessary amenities, and the bathroom was nice. The TV signal wasn’t great. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, some parts were dusty, the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests, and it was noisy at night. Fine for one night on a budget.
