The Ridings Guest House

The lounge and sun room were clean and comfortable, as were the three en-suite rooms we had, two doubles and a twin. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating, especially with our family tea party for eight, including an octogenarian. We had a very happy two-night stay and highly recommend it. We'll use it again next time we're in Oxford. Thank you, Tony and George.

The rooms were pretty good and the internet worked well. It was £79 in December 2014, so not exactly a bargain, and it's about a half-hour walk from the centre. Still, it works well for young people visiting Oxford. We stayed one night.

The host was great and attentive, and the rooms were decent. It's a good location, around a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute bus ride from the city centre. The downside is the noise: sound carries so easily through the wooden-floored house that you can hear pretty much everything other guests do.

A glitch online booked my room for two days before I arrived. The owner didn't even come down to speak to me. He said he was fully booked and then went on to charge me 50%. Avoid like the plague.
