The owner eventually replied after I emailed about the problems and apologized, and the bin and missing bathmat were sorted. I’m still waiting to hear about the compensation that was first offered, though, so I can’t recommend staying here until things are addressed. When I arrived, the house was dark, with no sign showing its name, and there were no staff on site. The owner hadn’t answered my earlier message about checking in late, so I was worried at 9pm that I wouldn’t be able to get in. My single attic room was pleasant enough, but the doorway was very low, so watch your head. The bathroom bin was full of used sanitary products from previous guests, there was no bathmat, and the room felt cold. I also noticed damp on the wall beside the bed. At 8am, a stranger knocked on my door. I don’t like posting negative reviews, but I felt I had to mention these issues.

Room 6 faces the back of the property, so it was quiet, and the en suite shower made it a good fit for one night. The keyless entry worked, though the code sent by email was wrong. It was sorted out without too long a wait, but management could fix that easily. I’d recommend it for solo travellers.

The room was a good size and the location was good, but the power cut left us without heating, lights, Wi-Fi or TV for the rest of our stay. We were told it would be fixed within a couple of hours, but it stayed freezing cold. We used our phone torches, and eventually our phones died because there was no electricity. I understood it was a power cut, so the next day I tried to contact the owners about some compensation. I’d still used the bed and shower, so I wasn’t expecting a refund or anything. Since we left, there’s been no communication, and I’ve been chasing them for weeks. I’d have rated the place higher if customer service had been better.

The room and location were fine, but no email or text arrived on the booking date. We were left outside with no idea what to do and spent a lot of time trying to reach someone. Luckily, we found another number and got a staff member to sort it out. Check-in ended up taking almost an hour.
