The location worked well for Cowley Road's many places to eat, and buses and coaches made it easy to get around Oxford, London and the airports. The owner and staff were friendly, it was good value, and the room was spacious with a kitchenette and a firm bed. Linens were changed weekly, or more often if requested. Be aware that the rooms are up a long flight of stairs. It's not somewhere for a lazy morning, as the only seats are wooden dinette chairs. I noticed some off smells, though I'm known to be sensitive to odors, and the cleanliness wasn't quite right: I washed the dishes before using them. I'd go back for an affordable place in a convenient spot.

We spent one night in Room 2 on Monday, 6 October. Staff were pleasant, but the stay was deeply disappointing because the room was dirty, some bedding was stained, and there was no natural light. It was advertised as having a view, yet it had no external windows. One window looked onto an internal brick wall, and the Oxford print advertised as a view wasn't a view at all. We've tried contacting the staff several times since and haven't received a response.

We were two people staying for two nights in early October, and found the place generally good. The room was clean and spacious, with a fridge, microwave and table. Cowley Road is right nearby, with shops including a large Tesco and plenty of restaurants. At night it was quite noisy because our window faced the road. Service was limited or unavailable in the morning and evening.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly. Crown House is well placed for restaurants, shops and what a tourist needs in Oxford. I'd highly recommend it for a leisure visit.

The convenient, peaceful location made the stay even better. Crown House was clean, comfortable and well cared for, and checking myself in was straightforward and smooth. I had a very good experience and would definitely recommend it.
