I’ve stayed here twice and will definitely come back next time I’m in Oxford. The staff are lovely and friendly, and the beds are very comfortable. It’s also a nice distance from the city centre and university, about a 45-minute walk to the main shops.

The staff are what made our stay at Marlborough House Hotel feel so welcoming. Kavita was lovely, and everyone was happy to help us plan sightseeing, meals, or an easy day around Oxford. Nothing seemed like a hassle, and we’d happily come back. Our room was roomy and comfortable, with a choice of firm or soft pillows, a small touch that I really appreciated. The hotel is in Summertown, a charming area, and the team gave us useful suggestions for things to do nearby. Oxford was lovely to visit, and I can imagine enjoying it in both summer and winter.

We loved our weekend family stay. The self check-in was easy even though we arrived late, and having a fridge and microwave in the room was a real bonus. The neighbourhood is peaceful, and there’s a bus stop right next to the hotel for getting into town. Highly recommend!

The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was adequate, and the room itself was clean, though I did spot a couple of small marks on the outside bedding. The biggest problem was the heating. It was December, but they didn’t switch it on until after 5pm. The room was cold, and the little radiator took about six hours to do much. The bathroom stayed cold the whole time. Breakfast was another letdown. We’d pre-ordered it, but there’s no kitchen. They put out cereal, some fruit and yoghurt from the fridge, and orange juice. I’d go to a local coffee shop instead. There’s also a tiny TV, hard to watch from the bed, and the repeated warnings about extra charges for checking in before 2, leaving after 10, parking outside the allowed hours, and so on felt over the top. They need to relax a bit and remember guests have other choices. I’d have been better off at the Courtyard by Marriott. It’s cheaper, better value, has proper TVs, and serves a cooked breakfast.

It’s a decent place to stay, in good condition and close to Summertown, with a direct bus into Oxford city centre. Free parking is possible on nearby side streets at weekends, though the hotel’s own spaces are limited. The room works for two, but for one person it may feel a little expensive. I skipped breakfast, so can’t comment on it. My main gripe was the pillows: they were too high, and I’d have preferred medium ones.
