Euro Bar and Hotel

The place stinks, it's filthy, and the whole building seems to be falling apart. The pictures online show just how dirty it is. After our one-night stay, they kept our £100 deposit and blamed us for something that was already there at check-in. The staff were terrible. This was an awful place to stay, and we wish we'd never had the experience. Avoid it.

The location is the one good thing, you can walk to everything. But for nearly £400 for two nights in a family room, I expected a lot more. The shower felt structurally unsafe, the windows were taped up and wouldn't close, and there was less than a roll of toilet paper for the whole weekend. With the room directly over a noisy pub, being able to shut the windows at night really mattered. A friend and I stayed over the bank holiday weekend for a wedding. Getting around the broken parts of the room safely was a struggle for two adults, let alone two adults and a child. I've never left a two-star review before, but this place deserves it. Choose a proper budget hotel or pay a little more for somewhere decent. Don't spend your money here.

The bathroom was in the worst condition: the shower base had collapsed, the doors were coming off their hinges, the ceiling was grimy, and the toilet had no lid. The rest of the room was dirty too, with grime over the surfaces and stained wallpaper showing signs of an old leak. I also couldn't get the door lock to work properly, which made me feel unsafe. The room was well below basic standards for cleanliness, upkeep, and safety. I strongly advise people to avoid this place.

The staff were genuinely friendly and tried to make me welcome, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The biggest problem was the noise. Music from the bar went on very loudly until after midnight, and the walls between rooms are so thin you can hear people moving around next door. My neighbour's alarm went off from 4:30 to 6 in the morning. I told reception, and they said they'd look into it, but the same thing happened the next day. I knocked at 4:30; it stopped for a while, then started again around 5. The whole thing was nerve-wracking. The hotel is very old, and the bedrooms, bathroom, and lighting are dated if you don't mind that sort of thing. The pillows were rubbish. I have no complaint about the staff, but this is a really bad place to stay.
